We're so proud to announce that UP's Candace Freedenberg and Janet McCray were hosted by The State of Connecticut's Department of Economic Development and SBA Connecticut for the 2022 Small Business Awards last night in New Haven!
In addition to U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro who opened the event, SBA Regional Administrator Mike Vlacich and Catherine Marx were on hand to present Candace with the Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year Award!
As a culmination to SBA Connecticut's celebration of Small Business Week, the awards ceremony was held at the CT Innovations space in The DISTRICT. We are fond of The DISTRICT for hosting Untapped Potential events (our Lift Each Other UP Mentor Mingle in November) and as the launch place where Janet McCray has directed the Untapped Potential - New Haven County outreach and growth.
We are a lean team here at Untapped Potential Inc. and appreciate the recognition of our fearless leader Candace and her continued innovation in the return-to-work space. She has boldly centered conversations about flexibility and less than full-time arrangements, and working to meet objectives, not "expected" hours.
We have learned a lot from our UP community, in their struggles and triumphs as they return. We have in common first-hand experience of the barriers that try to thwart our returns to paid career work and leave very small numbers of women in senior leadership pipelines and positions. We value caregiving as a huge benefit to not just our own families, but society's well-being too. This award goes not just to Untapped Potential, but all of YOU finding your way back, feeding your professional selves, and juggling all the rest of it!
Take your next step forward in your return and join us for one of our events!
